The George Group and Pointcorp announce their visionary plans for Laguna, North Lakes
The team behind Brisbane’s iconic James Street precinct, the George Group in joint venture with award-winning local developer Pointcorp, have today announced their plans for a vibrant new mixed-use destination ‘Laguna’ at North Lakes.
Laguna will feature a uniquely innovative retail precinct combined with over 10,000sqm of commercial office space, a 140-room hotel, a range of community facilities and a large function and event centre.
George Group Director, Patrick George said the project will set a new benchmark in mixed-use development for not only Brisbane and its northern suburbs, but the whole of Australia.
“Leveraging our twenty-year history creating and sustaining Fortitude Valley’s James Street, one of the most successful retail precincts in Australia, we’ll be creating a brand-new, world class mixed-use precinct,” Mr George said.
“Laguna will feature a carefully curated mix of cafes, small bars and restaurants as well as a diverse range of retailers; from well-known brands to boutique small-format operators.”
Conversely, Pointcorp Director Chris Vitale said that the combined expertise of both the George Group and Pointcorp’s experience delivering award-winning residential mixed-use precincts around Brisbane and the Morton Bay Region, will not only ensure the success of Laguna as a new destination for business, but also a new destination for recreation, health and shopping.
“We’ve worked tirelessly with the design team to create an exciting new location alternative for companies requiring highly functional office space, supported with a diverse retail offering as well as health and wellness facilities that will maintain a high level of employee engagement,” Mr Vitale said.
“Laguna will create a central village heart for the North Lakes community to shop, dine, relax and unwind in.”
Local residents and employees based within the precinct will be able enjoy the precinct’s diverse range of community facilities that will include a large lagoon style pool, a zero-depth recreational play area and a ‘learn to swim’ pool.
Laguna will also be home to the only dedicated private function space in the area. The 2,500sqm space will overlook landscaped gardens and coupled with the precinct’s rooftop terrace bar and restaurant, the community will be able to choose from a diverse range of locations to hold events, entertain clients or simply enjoy a drink.
Furthermore, a childcare centre will not only serve employees within the precinct itself, but also the wider North Lakes community, supporting the creation of an activated, socially sustainable precinct.
Mr George added that both North Lakes and the broader Moreton Bay Region have experienced significant levels of commercial investment, educational and residential growth in recent years.
“Given the region’s affordable rents, coupled with its easy access to Brisbane’s CBD and airport, North Lakes is becoming one of Brisbane’s most desirable suburbs to locate growing businesses,”
“The recently completed Redcliffe Peninsula Rail Line means employees can commute from Brisbane’s inner-northern suburbs within half an hour to Laguna, and the CBD within 50 minutes,”
“And with its world-class facilities and lively retail offering, Laguna is set to become a highly sought after precinct to work, shop, relax, stay and play.”
Construction is planned to commence in early 2018.
